Search?!? When is it coming back?
I have seen a few threads closed recently because the info is somewhere else, and I got to wondering. So I says to myself, "Self, when is the search coming back?" And I answers myself, "Self, I have no idea as I amn't a moderator." "Oh, I guess I is never gonna knows." I says.
So...when is the search coming back? Side note: While the search is all but useless, we should all cut everyone some slack on posts/threads that 'could' be answered somewhere else. Just post a link and then close it if you have to. There is no need to demean, insult, etc. |

It's coming back in a few days, whenever the new server is done being tested. I'm being nice about searching but (un)fortunately for most people, I had already made a stickied thread about a lot of questions people have. Where that fails, I post a link.

The Google alternative works well enough for the meantime. Too bad it seems most people won't try it. I am getting tired of, "I tried search, but it's down" lead-ins to people's new threads.
Please, oh please, try the Google alternative. It really does work. (I tried to search for a response to this thread, but search is not working. So I created this response because of that.) /sarcasm |

yea it works ok if you remember to keep the inurl:/forum, but it does nothing for people like me that basically only loos at new posts... ever since that feature has basically been lost I have been having a very hard time keeping track of things, and have resorted to subscribing to way way to many threads just so they appear in my user CP. Even looking up all posts by my user name is disabled, and that is just as bad cause I cant find followup information on posts I made easily...
in any case its usable, but barely... No self respecting forums is worth much without a search function... so I'm glad to hear its coming back at some point... |
